Angela Lopez (she/her) is an Australian-born Filipino Producer and Production Designer based in Naarm/Melbourne. She graduated with a Bachelor of Film and Television (Honours) from Swinburne University of Technology in 2023. As a multi-disciplinary freelancer, her work spans from short to long-form narratives, music videos, commercials, and more.
Her work has been showcased at prestigious festivals both domestically and internationally. In 2023, she took on multiple key roles as Co-Producer, Production Designer and First Assistant Director for short film 'Teach Me How To Cry' starring distinguished Australian actors Lachy Hulme and Michala Banas. The short film was awarded and screened at five notable Australian film festivals, including Canberra, Byron Bay and St Kilda Film Festival. Her production design work was showcased at MIFF for the Filipino-Australian short film ‘Walking’, which was selected for the Australian Shorts category in 2023. Globally, her work has been officially selected at film festivals in Sweden and India.
Drawing on her second-generation immigrant background, she infuses her work with personal experiences and cultural influences, exploring the nuances of the Asian-Australian diaspora. She strives to challenge the narratives portrayed in traditional media and advocates to amplify diverse voices both on-screen and behind the scenes.
